Producer/director Andre Champagne is an award-winning cinematographer, a veteran music
producer, and music and film editor. He is equally comfortable behind a camera or behind a
recording studio console. He began his filmmaking career at the age of eleven, shooting stop-
motion animation (pixelation) shorts, imitating a television commercial trend of the time. In Junior
High School, his love of music began to develop, leading him to play violin in the school orchestra,
and stomp around the football field, in the marching band with his alto sax.
In 2003, Champagne and his producing partner Alan Bernhoft, released “The Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde
Rock N’ Roll Musical”. The film played on the domestic and international film circuit, winning a huge
cult following and garnering numerous awards that included ‘Best Picture’ at the Fantastic Film
Festival International; ‘Best Score’, ‘Best Cinematography’ and ‘Achievement in Film’ at the New
York B-Movie Festival. As a result the movie was asked to open ManiaFest 2003 and screen at the
Valley Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Recent DP credits include the television pilot “The Real Reel West,” a PSA for the Wellness
Community featuring Jamie Lee Curtis, the independent feature, and editor and west coast DP for
Emmy-nominated Thom Fountain’s the incomparable “Wayland Flowers & Madame Remembered.”
Currently Andre is working on writing and creating “Speed Zombies of Tujunga,” a horror spoof on
alien bikers in the desert and is editing a short comedy “Someone For Everyone” which he also
directed and lensed in high definition.
A graduate of Cal State Long Beach, while there, he shot one of writer/director David Twohy’s
(“Below,” “Pitch Black,” “Waterworld,” “The Fugitive”) first short features. He expanded his industry
experience to include radio, as on-air talent and news story producer for the progressive rock
station KSUL-90.1, the forerunner to NPR’s KLON-FM station, now KJZZ. Honing his skills under
the tutelage of three-time Billboard Radio Personality of the Year, Ron McCoy, Andre was
entrusted with producing both station promos and PSA’s for the free form rock station KNAC-FM in
Long Beach. With this success he extended his reach into commercial advertising by producing
over 1,000 radio and television spots for numerous clients that included Music Plus, now
Blockbuster.
The world of recording then opened up and he began building studios, consulting with engineers
and managing several recording facilities in the Los Angeles area. Currently he owns and operates
a multimedia production and post-production facility nestled in the mountains, high above Los
Angeles.
Andre has worked on hundreds of film, television and music projects, some of his better known
clients included Sally Kellerman, Chevy Chase, George Clooney, Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones),
Steven Segal, Red Skelton, Harlan Ellison, Ed Begley, Jr., Tyne Daly, Gary David Goldberg, Nikki
Sixx (Motley Crew), T-Bone Burnett, Sherman Helmsley, Joey Travolta, John Avila (Oingo Boingo),
